Uganda National Parks

Uganda National Parks

Uganda often known as "the Switzerland of Africa", due to its sheer physical beauty, is a land of infinite variety. Now, politicaly stable, it invites you to experience the many wonders of its natural heritage Encompassed within its 235,880 sq km are national parks, abounding in wildlife and magnificent lake and mountain scenery. Kampala, its capital city is well connected by road, air, and train, and is 35km from the international airport at Entebbe.

Murchison Falls National Park - uganda

Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest park and has one of the densest populations of game. The fact that part of the River Nile and Lake Albert are to be found here is one of the reasons for the thick and thriving flora.

Where the Nile meets Lake Albert, large herds of game – elephants, kobs, waterbuck, giraffes, buffaloes and hartebeest, among others – can be found cooling off along the Buligi trail, as lions and leopards stealthily rest in the nearby thickets. It is a breathtaking paradise worth visiting at least once in your life.

A boat trip to the bottom of the spectacular Murchison Falls takes you past gigantic smiling crocodiles and grunting hippos, whose concentration on this part of the Nile is one of the highest in Africa. A boat trip in Lake Albert’s delta area is a rewarding experience of bird-watching, with an opportunity to see the rare Shoebill Stork.

Other activities while you are here include trekking at the thunderous top of the falls, where the mighty River Nile (the longest in the world) is forced through a 7-metre crevice to drop 45 meters below in a series of cascades; chimpanzee tracking in Rabongo and Budongo rainforests, southeast of the park; sport fishing; game drives; boat cruises and bird-watching.
